The town of Alcalalí, also known as Alcanalí, is beautifully situated in the Valle de Pop at an altitude of 240 meters above sea level, about 20 km inland from the coast, nestled between the impressive Monte Seguili mountain and the Carrascal mountain range. The name comes from Arabic and reflects the region's historical significance.

The local economy is based on traditional agriculture, including the cultivation of oranges, almonds, and grapes. Additionally, honey production and basket weaving are important economic activities. Notably, the town has a lace-making school where visitors can learn the art of lace-making.

The Vall de Pop is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The region offers a variety of hiking and walking routes with different levels of difficulty. For climbers, there are exciting routes in the Seguili mountains, known for their rock paintings, and in Carrascal.
